Coffee & Conversation Part 2 - Uganda

Spark’s second session of our Virtual Coffee & Conversations series featured two of our Spark leaders from our Uganda country program. The session was held on April 23rd to discuss our pilot program to implement the Spark process in the refugee camps in West Nile, Uganda, the response to COVID-19 in the region, and what that means for Spark’s program.

Spark has been working in the West Nile region for about two years implementing our village planning process among some of the most vulnerable populations in the country. This so far has resulted in stronger communities that advocate for their needs, improved livelihoods among those with little resources, and increased refugee integration into host communities.

Emma Grace Akello and Peter Shimali, two long-time Spark staff, led the conversation to discuss how COVID-19 has affected these communities, how we can adapt to COVID-19 in a refugee setting, and answer questions about the Uganda program.
